Here’s the perfect guide to making the perfect MMORPG:
Include everything.
I want to be a cyborg elf from Mars with a T-Rex for a pet. And I want to kill ninja androids who use lightsabers and magic.
Besides that, make it in the EQ/WoW style. Combat following the “click and wait” pattern, although I would like a better system for switching between weapons and styles of attack. Maybe use the scroll wheel for switching between weapons (like in a shooter) instead of for zoom control. But that’s just details, really.
The point is that it should have everything. Just take the standard fantasy-style MMO and throw all of the other genres into it.
I shouldn’t have to choose between being a mage or a hacker.
Also, I’d like to see multiple servers, but each server with a slightly different ruleset. One server might have permadeath, another wouldn’t. One server might have open PvP, another might have limited PvP, and another might have no PvP at all. WoW already does it with PvE, PvP and RP servers. I just want it taken to the next level. Most importantly: Free character transfers.
My cyborg necromancer will wtfpwn you with his sword of +2 ninjadeath.
The day when a gnomish male hooker with deep purple hair meets a cyborg werewolf using magic on the battlefield will be a great day in MMO history.
Agreed, but find a company willing to take that kind of venture and do it right.
The only difference between you and me is that you want an MMORPG with everything, whereas I treat the world (which has pretty much everything) as an MMORPG. My way’s more expedient, although I have to admit I’m typing this from jail after leveling my archery skills up to a 44.
I heard that the Politician class is overpowered in that game. Maybe you should give it a shot.
Hey, That’s my idea of the perfect mmorpg too.
For example, guildwars. you can choose a main class and a subclass. I would be a Cyborg ninja necro and raise undead robots from hell! I would fight Demonic gunslinger clerics from heaven and duel Dragon-kin knight rangers with zomgwtf gigantic bows. Oh yeah, dont forget the Elf midget magicans from planet x wielding light sabers.
